A Brief History of RARSAC

The Royal Artillery Range Sea Angling Club ( forever on to be known as RARSAC ), came into being in April 1972. It was created in order to provide the facility of Sea Angling to serving members of the Range, its guests and its visitors.

The Founder Members were:

WO1 Bob Wood REME ( President)

S Sgt Dick Blanchard ( Secretary)

S Sgt Terry Parke RAOC ( Competitions Member )

Sgt Kip Berryman ( Property Member )

The remainder of the original 40 members all joined shortly thereafter, in September and October 1972.

At the pinnacle of the clubs prosperity, there were 99 members, a waiting list and access to three Range Boats: (Kanoner, Kirstag and Kelpie ), one RAF Boat ( Red Can), and three private boats woned by WO2 Terry Nichols RA, Maj Hugh Bishop (Retd) and Mr George DeBuse.

The club currently has its own boat ‘Javelin’, and around 20 members.
